On the Rebound...This May be the Magic

Please read: John 1:29-34

“Non-Champions may know how to persevere,

but you can’t just persevere in all things.
Because in some areas,
the wisest thing to do is to actually GIVE UP.”
– Bo Sanchez

May mga pagkakataon na ayaw mo nang magpatalo kasi mukhang “one-man win” na lang palagi ang peg, and you were made to feel insulted mostly -- even below the belt.

– Gail Montero

Much is true … “Going through life is just like coursing through a “basketball court”!
There are really instances when it’s more sensible to “give-up and just let go” than to put-up a BAD FIGHT!

When set-backs attack and when we’re on the losing-end, “CATCH BALL- OFF BACKBOARD” MOVE lang ang katapat nyan … REBOUND in short! -- but we’ve got to be more cautious with our STRATEGies the next time we’re ready to SPRING BACK!

          D               G                  D               G
Take me to your heart,    Show me where to start ...
         C#m               F#m     Bm              A                Em
Got to believe in magic,  Tell me how two people find each other
         C
         In a world that's full of strangers; . . .

Pero oo nga noh, at some point, we no longer get to enjoy the  “court of life” kasi, parang “strangers” na halos tayo sa mga kasama natin --  dahil may mga ilang bagay na nakakalimutan na natin:
When was the last time  na tumingin ka sa mga mata ng kasama mo while dribbling the ball to the same direction kasi magka-team kayo?
When was the last time na inintindi mo ang ibig sabihin ng mga galaw nya para alam mo kung kailan nya kailangan ng back-up at support mo?
When was the last time na sinalag mo ang atake ng kalaban para di sya tuluyang masaktan?
When was the last time na ni-recognize mo ang effort nyang mag-assist sayo habang pareho nyong pinagsusumikapang maka-goal?
& when was the last time na may nasabi kang maganda tungkol sa kanya kasi na-appreciate mo ang role na ginagampanan nya sa team nyo?

This was exactly how John the Baptist “teamed-up with Jesus” in today’s gospel. It hasn’t been easy & he really had to take it upon himself to EDIFY Jesus & proclaim that Jesus is the “lamb of God” -- because even him, did not know where to start; but his willingness to “understand God’s heart” made him finally persistent in doing God’s will.

that we have God within us
bilang isang team
kahit na to the point na
may mga bagay na kailangan nating i-sacrifice
just for the sake of  “putting up a good fight
until we finish the game”

-- this may be the “magic”
which we’ve got to believe-in!  #sunset

Think it Over & Beyond: Your Compass in Life by Gail Montero

Your Compass in Life

After looking into your PHILOSOPHICAL HERITAGE with the Five Philosophies involved and  cited in this link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzWvUKgwO4W2Q1NCbjFNS3VIWEk/edit,

you are expected to as much as possible be ready to
Formulate your own Philosophy of Education.

Philosophy is vital only when …
  the questions are mine,
and so is the struggle towards answers. -- W. Luipen

After settling into the answers to some Existential Questions,
you should be able look into that Existential Concept which
declares that your Philosophy of Education
is your “Window” to the world
and your “Compass” in life.

With that Educational Philosophy, you will at least be able
to provide for yourself an overview on how you will treat your students,
what you will possibly teach and how you will teach.

As you formulate your own Philosophy of Education,
from which among the Five Philosophy/ies did you draw inspiration
and from whom among the persons you know do you gain insight?

After such formulation, how do you think would that Philosophy of yours
make a difference in your life?

Now that you have accomplished such task, how do you feel about yourself?
Could you imagine: "what if you do not have "a formulated Philosophy" at all?"

Think it Over & Beyond by Gail S. Montero: What Can a Happy Person Give?

Think it Over & Beyond: What Can a Happy Person Give?: Prof. Ed. 4.                                                                                                                     The Elemen...

What Can a Happy Person Give?

Prof. Ed. 4.                                                                                                                     The Elements & Components of Curriculum.

Needless to ask if you're happy ... yes, the fact that you have this opportunity,
I SUPPOSE, YOU ARE HAPPY!
well, i really hope you are :)

and so, since I am making a positive presumption,
How many % happy are you? -- as in, are you 99.9% happy?, 80%? 45%? -- your call!
What is your level of happiness?
...and of course, why did you say so?

and since you have no more choice than gauge your intensity,
let me moreso amplify ...
What are some reasons for you to be happy?

Hmmmm...so, how's your list? Are your grounds vivid?
Do you really mean "saying so", or you're just striving to "trick yourself" of such a requirement?

Well, it really happens.
Sometimes, we just can't find enough motivation to find a spot for such an emotion deep within us. But sometimes too, we need to look around and find some amount of motivation.

Try to watch this video ... see if you could settle on a more proper frame of mind to eventually identify HOW MUCH YOU CAN GIVE ... just because you're HAPPY!

Inspired by this, shall you have all the opportunity to CRAFT a Curriculum for the young generation, what then would you be willing to GIVE?

Bring it down, layout your plan with your CO-STAKEHOLDERS "to be"!

Note:
Students are expected to brainstorm within their group on HOW THEY WOULD WANT THEIR "OWN SCHOOL TO BE". What, among the Elements & Components of Curriculum would they consciously & unconsciously include?

It takes a happy heart to build a well-founded school

for our future generation.

In Your Picture Gallery

If you are to capture scenarios, experiences, situations, faces, places and eventually come up with a PICTURE GALLERY which would intend to attract people…
what would you include?
Whatever would appear in your "Picture Gallery" would definitely reflect whether you are a Traditionalist or a Progressivist in  your "POINT OF VIEW" as discussed in this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzWvUKgwO4W2S2NaYjN2ZTdOU3M/edit?usp=sharing, along with the succeeding impressions under the topic Concepts, Nature and Purposes of Curriculum.

No matter what standpoint, as no particular view has ever been pinpointed better than the other, gearing towards "development" should really be the basepoint of purposeful planning in Educational Settings should we ever crave for positive changes.

While our involvement in that so called "positive change": is claimable, it should just be wise to look-into and examine closely which Model of Curriculum  should we subscribe to: Ralph Tyler's Model with Four Fundamental Principles or Hilda Taba's Linear Model/Grassroots Approach although if we would closely scrutinize, both versions recognized the Three Interaction Process in Curriculum Development: Planning, Implementing & Evaluating.

It would likewise help significantly to consider the Types of Curriculum Operating in Schools: Recommended, Written, Taught, Supported, Assessed, Learned & Hidden while back-tracking along the Major Foundations of Curriculum: Philosophical, Historical, Psychological & Social.  Why? Because it would always make the difference if you could find a "clear trace" of the ORIGIN and PATH of the Model that you are venturing on.

Always remember, you can never share even if you want, if you can never tell what you have.

So, whose Model do you mostly do you adhere to? What would you have in your Picture Gallery?

Ironically

Please read January 12, 2014 Gospel: Matthew 3:13-17

Young as I was in my late elementary years, I already learned the ART OF DIVERTING THINGS J

It were during those years when I learned that …
“at times
when no one would seem to tell you
what you have to know”,
YOU JUST NEED TO LOOK UP,
and find that “EASE” with HIM
who makes you feel “LOVED”
afterall!

After last week’s Epiphany, today is the last Sunday of our Christmas season.

While reflecting on this Gospel, sobrang naramdaman ko how GOD loves us “that much”!
Amidst the mystery of the coming of Jesus & when He humbly plunged into the water for Baptism, I felt so blessed with that truth … that God has been working out His ways just to be ONE WITH US. When God declared Jesus as His “BELOVED”, He also meant it for us.  We may not fully understand the way things are, but there is just “that something” which makes us feel “at peace” without having to query every now and then “why and how” things happen.

What about you Brothers & Sisters, as we begin also today, the 1st Sunday in Ordinary Time – A NEW LIFE & opportunity  to BE ONE WITH JESUS, anong regalo ang baon mo? #sunset

The Wise Road ” in 2014

Featured Jan 5, 2014 Gospel: Matthew 2:1-11
THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

“It’s time to STOP!”– Pope Francis

Hehe, we have just started the year, “STOP” agad?
As in, “agad-agad?”

But WAIT, today’s Gospel is telling us that THIS IS “actually” the best way to START THINGS RIGHT in 2014 J.

Inspired by a letter from a man who lamented on the “so many tragedies and wars in the world”  Pope Francis emphasized these exact lines in VATICAN CITY (AP),  St. Peter’s Square, January 1, 2014 when he layed out his hopes for the “just-begun year”. [http://www.huffingtonpost.com]:

"What is happening in the heart of man? What is happening in the heart of humanity?"
"It's time to stop!"

"We are all children of one heavenly father,
we belong to the same human family and we share a common destiny."

"This brings a responsibility for each to work
so that the world becomes a community of brothers
who respect each other, accept each other in one's diversity, and takes care of one another."

"I, too, believe that it will be good for us to stop ourselves
in this path of violence and search for peace."

"The gospel of brotherhood speak to every conscience and knock down the walls
that impede enemies from recognizing that they are brothers."

True as it always is, OLD HABITS ARE HARD TO BREAK!
The guiltier we are, the harder our “stone heart” becomes.
Kung ano ang mas madali, ‘yon na lang ang mas pinipiling gawin;
Iwas-iwas to the max sa mga bagay na mahirap nang baguhin.

There is no easy way to the Road Less Travelled!
But once we set our goal to FIND THAT STAR as the Three Magis did, we would surely no longer want to go back to our old ways – the old road which lead us off track.

It is most difficult to STOP if we wouldn’t identify which button to press!
It would best help if we will humbly attempt to “Reflect on the Heart of God”: “Dum in Cor Dei” [Latin translation] now and again – for God’s deep message is always in Silence.

Friend, however our 2013 has been, God must been preparing us for better things this 2014.
The best point to START is to strive for our “epiphany” – when we eventually realize that we’ve got to reconcile with God’s heart so that we could “carry out” our responsibility both to ourselves & to our “brothers” despite some discrepancies. J

Novus Annus everyone, God will be with us year through! #sunset

Dum in “Cor Dei”: Reflecting on The Heart of God, Strive for Reconciliations in 2014

Work Out That Pane!

Another year is over, and we're on-set for the New Year!
We've always been thankful to God for the year that has been
and of course, we would also want to have the best of the new...ever!

Excited as we are with whatever is in-stored for us in the next 364 days,
we should as much be excited with what WE COULD SHARE
so as to open up our door to relationships which could bring the difference and make more significance to our existence.

But wait, we should first peep-in through the windows of our SELF; otherwise, we wouldn't really know what there is to offer and what there is to be in need of.

To BEST BEGIN, why not strive for this SELF-DISCOVERY and DISCLOSURE?
We can never really give what we don't have;
and we wouldn't know what to give if we wouldn't identify what we have.
In the same way, we wouldn't really strive to work for something
if we are not aware of what we don't have.

To end up satisfied and fulfilled by the end of the year,
first things first: PEEP-IN your OWN WINDOW and see that you'll be more aware of what you want to do, for you to WORK-OUT a more beautiful year ahead!

SO, grab this opportunity now ... look within, query around, reflect on feedback, find opportunities.
Begin filling-in your window:

This is a Johari Window, a Model developed by American psychologists Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham in 1955, an idea derived as the upshot of the group dynamics in University of California. The name ‘Johari’ came from joining their first two names: Jo-Har-I

As a Psychological Tool, the ‘Johari’ window model is relevantly used to identify TWO TRUTHS in your life: the "known"  and the "unknown" areas which you and others "see" and "do not see" .

It could aid in improving self-awareness, 'soft' skills and in motivating personal development as you go through the journey of discovering "who you are" as a person. - while you enhance your perception on others through social  "trust" as you thrive to achieve the task of understanding and enhancing communication for interpersonal development when you're already in a group.

Each person is represented by the Johari model through four quadrants or window panes which signify personal information, feelings, motivation and whether that information is known or unknown to oneself or others in four viewpoints:

1. "Open self" or Arena - the "Public" area which you and others see in you: attitudes, behavior, emotions, feelings, skills and views.  You typically do not mind discussing with others this part of you. Most of the time you agree with this view you have and others have of you upon "feedback solicitation".
2. "Hidden Self" or Façade – the "Private" area which  you see in yourself but others don’t; known to you but is kept unknown from others which you feel reluctant to reveal: feelings, past experiences, fears, secrets, faults, weaknesses, and dysfunctions due to modesty, vulnerability & protection.
3. "Blind self" or blind spot –the area which you do not see in yourself but others see in you: those that others know in a group but you are unaware of it. Others may interpret yourselves differently than you expect; sometimes a mismatch between your talk & walk which you fail to detect.
4. "Unknown Self" area - the "Undiscovered" area of your self that you cannot see nor others around you: your feelings, capabilities, talents; even the traumatic past experiences or events which can be unknown for a lifetime and makes you unaware till you discover your hidden qualities and capabilities through observation of others. You would need to strive for Open Communication to effectively decrease the unknown area and thus to communicate effectively.

Should you strive to socialize and earn feedback from others, you could result to MUTUAL TRUST among your group and the sizes of your known arenas could be increased downwards, thus by reducing the hidden and unknown areas in your life.
So there, 'hope this could be the first you could accomplish among all else in 2014!
So long as you are ever willing to open up those windows, more doors of opportunities will be opened.

"Something good is going to happen to you
through out this year!"

Claim it in Jesus' name and nurture that trust deep within :-)
