Your Compass in Life

After looking into your PHILOSOPHICAL HERITAGE with the Five Philosophies involved and  cited in this link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzWvUKgwO4W2Q1NCbjFNS3VIWEk/edit,

you are expected to as much as possible be ready to
Formulate your own Philosophy of Education.

Philosophy is vital only when …
  the questions are mine,
and so is the struggle towards answers. -- W. Luipen

After settling into the answers to some Existential Questions,
you should be able look into that Existential Concept which
declares that your Philosophy of Education
is your “Window” to the world
and your “Compass” in life.

With that Educational Philosophy, you will at least be able
to provide for yourself an overview on how you will treat your students,
what you will possibly teach and how you will teach.

As you formulate your own Philosophy of Education,
from which among the Five Philosophy/ies did you draw inspiration
and from whom among the persons you know do you gain insight?

After such formulation, how do you think would that Philosophy of yours
make a difference in your life?

Now that you have accomplished such task, how do you feel about yourself?
Could you imagine: "what if you do not have "a formulated Philosophy" at all?"

to be a person of good will and has the courage t0 instill the hope and wisdom to every child's heart For the glory of god Above.
Being a teacher I want ,to give what the child deserve to receive the ' learnings and the passion to be a person not justa person who knows the truth but more so the gift of drawing the Fine line between right and Wrong.
As I come up with my philosophy I totally inspired by the concept of extentialism. We liVe because we Exist. we see life the way we exist . Our Existence depends on our living. I want to Teach because I want to live. But teaching is Living. I Want my students to learn through Thier own experience. MY Skills and talents are just supplementary to Thier own acquired skills and gift.
My inspiration is GOD.
my Will belongs to him
my heroes will be Parents
my Companion towards in making a difference will be all my Great teachers
my simple Source of joy Will be my Friends,

my philosophy leads me to the right path it strengthens my Faith in achieving what I have formulated It gives me hope to be a better individual.

with this Chance of embracing life I Feel more bless- more chance of living More so I Feel So COMPLETE-

without having Your own self- philosophy , is just Walking without backbone. Breathing without any air, Opening your eyes each day without any glares of light but only shadows of Lonliness

So as you live and exist never lose the Chance to know thyself. the only way to Find the pot of Gold is when see your thine direction in life.

It’s not as easy as 1-2-3 to imbibe one’s philosophy on education; it took at least a week for me to be able to contemplate with a few…. Attending my hours on Field Study at Fort Bonifcacio High school certainly inspired me.

I believe that one’s education should be a progressive one, that it finds its roots in present experience. Most progressive education programs have these qualities in common:

• Emphasis on learning by doing – hands-on projects, expeditionary learning, experiential learning
• Integrated curriculum focused on thematic units
• Integration of entrepreneurship in to education
• Strong emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking
• Group work and development of social skills
• Understanding and action as the goals of learning as opposed to rote knowledge
• Collaborative and cooperative learning projects
• Education for social responsibility and democracy
• Highly personalized education accounting for each individual's personal goals
• Integration of community service and service learning projects into the daily curriculum
• Selection of subject content by looking forward to ask what skills will be needed in future society
• De-emphasis on textbooks in favor of varied learning resources
• Emphasis on lifelong learning and social skills
• Assessment by evaluation of child’s projects and productions

With these particular standards, a student/pupil would grow academically prepared and socially equipped in facing the future’s needs for globally competitive individuals.

Formulate my own philosophy of education.
How can we be good teachers if we do not have our own philosophy? What approach and methods should we acquire if we do not have our own philosophy?
Having a philosophy is important as it defines us as being a teacher which in turn also defines us as an individual.
When we had our class discussion of the 5 Philosophies of Education, I saw myself deep in thought and asked myself, which Philosophy I shall adhere to.
As I intend to be an early childhood educator, I would like to teach my students the basic skills they need to help them be independent even in their own little ways. Basics like washing their hands properly, tying their shoe laces and packing away their toys after play. I would also like my students to learn how to count and how to say the alphabet as these are important skills they need to learn so that they are equipped with the fundamentals needed for their future growth.
I shall teach my students to become bright, clever and intelligent individuals. My approach is to respond to my students needs which are normally related to their personal lives and experiences so that they be enlightened in preparation for their everyday activities
I intend to teach my students the ability to develop their rational and moral powers, the ability to expand their reasoning skills because as they grow older, they shall face decision making situations and will be challenged with certain circumstances and I would like for them to learn what is rational and moral for them to grow up as good citizens of our society.
I shall provide my students with classroom activities that will bring out their own creativity for them to express themselves freely. It is all about individual contact with my students, I shall engage in one on one interaction with the children to bring out and stir their imagination and ingenuity. By doing so makes them unique in their own little ways.
At the end of the day to promote affirmative responses to my students, I shall give them encouragement to motivate them more and to inspire them. The activities that I should prepare for my students should be those that they may respond to the different elements in the environment and with the right encouragement they may feel the need and the want to do more constructive and positive responses and that they may decipher in their own minds which are negative and unpleasant.
I may not be able to follow these philosophies every little step of the way, but with God’s grace and guidance, I hope that someday I can.

As a future teacher I want to install my philosophy in education as my guide to be a better teacher.
be the child advocate, give them the right for a quality education,
to fight for their rights, and discrimination.
To have access in a healthy environment where in they can express their feelings and idea and
be properly guided by teacher and parent with their talent and skills.
To install the good values necessary for their well being.
Be the inspiration and a role model in every child.
And above all, introduce GOD .

I believe that education is something that we have to treasure. It is priceless and no one can steal it.

It is important that you are educated. You should be a person who is intellectually, morally, spiritually and emotionally strong and capable, As a future educator one must be a good model, because as a teacher you have to be a good example to your students. While teaching inside the four corner of the classroom, all the students attention is on the teacher. As a teacher we have to act professionally, we have to be a good model to them. So that the students will respect us, and also we have to dress according to what is needed. As an educator we must share what we know, what we have learned to our students, this is the only way we can prove ourselves professionally, this is the basis of our knowledge. Sharing knowledge to our students is priceless this is something that they treasure forever.

Some people can't study or even step in the school, because they lack financially after high school days, they work, they strive hard even though they want to go to school they can't. Now a days there are government schools with low tuition fees.Students who want to prove something really strive hard, there are the so called working students, these are good examples. there is also the "study now pay later" program which is after you finish your chosen course to them, you will be absorbed by the school to work in their company, and that's the time you can pay to them.

This is my philosophy in education; Strive hard, share knowledge and teach the young ones.

I always say I want to touch the lives of my would-be students, hence, my adherence to the Progressivism Philosophy of Education. Being able to share something meaningful to them is far more important than the academics I can discuss in classroom. Knowledge can be learned if you study, but wisdom is something more personal. It comes from within after a series of life experiences which will greatly shape one's future.

My philosophy of education examines the aims, forms, methods, and results of acquiring knowledge as both a process and a field of study. In our life, the education is always an investment in our future because they put the ideas, techniques, strategies and knowledge from the theory to hands-on experiences. I want to help, teach and guide the students for the goals and dreams and to put my legacy and advocacy on our students to be self-disciplined and self-confident. For my experience and expertise, I want to discover and enhance more for the improvement in our knowledge and always pray to God for the guidance.

Life without philosophy is improbable and so as in education without philosophy is unimaginable. I get inspired to teachers who use their heart to teach. The effect is contagious and reflective. I will respect the students who personally choose the subject they wanted to learn or the skill they wanted to improve. We know that knowledge is tentative, it can be changed or can be temporary. Children facing the challenge of a new age, my role as a would-be-teacher is to be a learning guide, a surrogate of their learning opportunities and a contributor of their educational progress. I truly believe that education is life and to fully understand life is to know the philosophy of right living. I like to teach them to be responsible to their actions and be conscious to the environment that they live in and to value/appreciate what they have. I would like to use a combination of progressivism and realism, with the right amount of logic, the moral values instill in their hearts and joy springing within their soul, they may be able to achieve the highest form of education, to live a life to the fullest. May God Help Me Achieve My Goal.

To have that philosophy in life means putting directions and meaning on our own ways of living. It is realizing our own vision and creating our missions in our existence. So with our philosophy in education, we should have it in my mind and in our hearts for us to be would-be effective teachers. To be a progressivist teacher will be a challenge. Creating an atmosphere of progressive learning experiences among students while touching their lives and bringing-out the best among them is something that I will look forward to. The diversity of their learning needs should be met and should be given attention to produce successful learners.

Personally, my philosophy in education is " Making my students love to study" It's like making them feel excited to go to school everyday and look forward to lessons they are to learn. I want an atmosphere that will make them feel at home, uplift their self-esteem and bring out the best in them realizing that they have to always give their best in all they do. Even though that sometimes there are failures because of some difficulties, they won't give up and even strive harder. These sound idealistic but the present methods like Prof Gail is doing, will help me achieve it by God's grace. I want to touch their heart by means of progressive learning because we are now in modern age which I believe is applicable to them.

My Philosophy in education: As a teacher/mentor I must teach and guide my students/pupils even those from limited backgrounds to develop their learning abilities. It's important also to know my subject and the materials that I will be using in order for the discussion to be more effective. I believe that to be an effective teacher, I need to know my students individually, I must know their needs, expectations and skills. I must be prepared always to provide high quality teaching for each and every class period.
I will use different kinds of teaching strategies that are interactive, multidisciplinary, integrated, experiential, varied and connected to students daily life. I must also consider the learning styles for the students to have access to opportunities and achieve the culture of success in the school. And most of all I must concentrate on the thought that all can learn.

Honestly speaking when I enrolled for TCP my aim was just to take the board exam for me to have eligibility. And I’m really sorry for that, but in the middle of my schooling bumaligtad mundo ko. Iba na ang naging philosophy ko, why I need to change my goal to study TCP and that is being a teacher is a vocation and baka nga kaya ako nandito eto na yung calling ko. And so do I challenged myself what can I contribute to the society na kahit sa munti kong pangarap maging teacher mababawasan kahit .00005 % ang problem natin sa education and we know naman how important to have an education it something that we have to treasure and no one can steal it from you.
My Philosophy in Teaching:
Students must learn when they are accepted for whom and where they are in their educational journey.
Effective learning requires collaboration between teacher, students, and parents grounded with mutual respect and trust.
I believe in learning takes place best in positive safe environment filled with laughter.
Arts Education provides students we new avenues for communication and making connections in their world and it is essentials equipping students with the necessary tools to navigate our visual culture society.

SO HELP ME GOD.

Hi! TERE here

When I was a kid until I reached college, I don't even want to be a teacher, but when fate brought me in non formal education and I experienced to stand in front of people less fortunate to finish school, I realize there is a calling, I have my reservation for a change, now if fate would still bring me in teaching. My philosophy is... teaching is a vocation, a life long process, and teach what is worth teaching for.

A teacher is the ladder towards the success of the children’s future.
It took me a while to formulate my own philosophy. But then I remember my pupils in school and seeing them learning something from me, It really melts my heart knowing that the parents keep on thanking me for teaching their kids. WE, the teachers are the key to towards the victory the present and future generations.

Philosophy is a window that holds and sets our own values and beliefs.

I draw inspiration to Existential Philosophy. "Existence preceeds essence" and we make our own purpose.

I also believe that using this philosophy would mold & guide me best as a teacher.
As what Soren Kierkegaard, the first existential philosopher, proposed - "that each individual—not society or religion—is solely responsible for giving meaning to life and living it passionately and sincerely".
As a future teacher could make a difference if I will start the change in ME. I make choices & decisions, and I am the reason on who I am today & tomorrow.

I would also use the principle of John Dewey "Learning by doing". Learning by doing would mean that my role is to be an exposer of knowledge. The student should learn on his own, formulate hypothesis & test them. But students can't do these on their own.
My role then as a teacher would be their guide to the right experiences.

“Nature wants children to be children before they are men . . . Childhood has ways of seeing, thinking, and feeling, peculiar to itself, nothing can be more foolish than to substitute our ways for them.“ - John Dewey

After choosing from the 5 philosophies made me feel better because I have discovered who I am, and what I want to be in the future. I have choose the best philosophy that would suit my belief & values.

Without choosing one, then I don't know what kind of teacher will I be and where will I head into.

A person’s philosophy is like a compass, a pathway and a window.

I believe that a student should learn holistically.
A learner should use his hands in learning.
or Learn things by doing it.

Existentialism. Find the essence
of existence in freedom –
duty of self-determination &
freedom of choice.

Without it, I am a person
without a direction.

As teachers of the 21st century learners, we should possess the 4 C’s of 21st Century skills; Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinker and Creative. These skills helps us become more effective 21st century teachers and helps us improve the teaching and learning process. Let us allow the children to learn what they should learn and let them engage to learn for a lifetime. As Kelly Holm said; “We won’t know what children would know in years from now, so inquiry is the process children learn how to learn and apply those skills in the learning of everything for the future”.
